Sankara Nethralaya’s Low Vision Clinic takes assistance to the outdoors!

It was a great honour to India, a testimony to the growth of optometry as a field in the country and the expertise of Sankara Nethralaya’s optometrists when the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) appointed a team of optometrists in India to select the Blind Cricket team for the League matches and the World Cup match. Mrs. Sarika Gopalakrishnan (Head of the Low Vision Care clinic) and Ms. Malini from the LVC team, Sankara Nethralaya were selected to make a visit to Cochin for selecting and categorizing the cricket players with visual impairment. The optometrists selected the team by applying the guidelines prescribed by the SBCC to the last detail, the selection process involved calculating of Functional Acuity Score (FAS) and Functional Field Score (FVS) using the appropriate equipments.
It was a great joy to Sankara Nethralaya that the members of its Low Vision Clinic engaged in providing assistance to the partially vision impaired and making them self reliant and active through constant innovations and training could play a role in selecting the Indian Blind Cricket Team for a great sporting activity they would soon be engaged in
